Department of Chemistry, University College London,

20 Gordon St, WC1H 0AJ

The Chemistry Department at University College London is the oldest in England and has been built on a solid foundation of chemical excellence. Our achievements in chemical research have been recognised at the highest levels and we are consistently acknowledged as being one of the top Chemistry Departments in the UK. Our location in Bloomsbury at the heart of London means that the UCL Chemistry Department offers an exciting and vibrant environment in which to study Chemistry.

We expect to be recruiting students for PhD projects beginning in Autumn 2014, in the following research areas:

  • Organic Synthesis
  • Chemical Biology
  • Drug Discovery
  • Sustainable Chemistry

Prospective graduate students are invited to visit the UCL chemistry Department on our Open Day to meet supervisors and discuss potential PhD projects. The event will consist of a short presentation, tours of the research areas of the Department, and an opportunity to discuss your research interests with potential supervisors and to meet existing graduate students. Further details of current research can be found here

Applicants to our PhD programme should hold or expect to obtain an upper second or first class degree in Chemistry or a related subject.
