Lab Dinner 2013

The UCL Chemistry Lab Dinner was held on Friday 22nd November, 2013.   It was attended by 89 people comprised of alumni, current staff and students.

Before the dinner, in the Chemistry Lecture Theatre, Yoshiyuki Kikuchi gave a talk entitled "Joji Sakurai and the Development of Anglo-Japanese Relations in Chemistry, 1863-1939".

Yoshiyuki used to be at the Open University where he did some work on our department's Japanese connection; he now is at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies, Kanagawa, Japan.

The formal dinner itself included a toast to the Department by Professor Robert Parker. 

Professor Ivan Parkin (Head of Department) also presented two Ramsay Medal Winners, they were Atif Elahi and Vincent Grey - congratulations to the both of them.

The menu this year:

Pressed ham hock and leek terrine with red wine reduction and crispy croute

Pan fried polenta coated goats cheese with roasted cherry tomatoes and pickled beetroot (V)

Main

Confit of duck, green beans, sweet potato puree an orange glaze

Butternut squash risotto, buttered baby vegetables and roasted tomato dressing (V)

Dessert

Apple & Sultana Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream

Tea, Coffee & Petit Fours

On sale at the dinner was Alwyn Davies and Peter Garrrett's book on the History of the Department, selling at £12.00.
