Each year CenTraS hosts international affiliate academics who spend a period of research leave with us, ranging from a few months to a year. They actively contribute to our academic activities, facilitating very fruitful collaboration in teaching and research.
As an affiliate academic, we can offer you research facilities, such as access to our own library and other libraries in London and the UK, and introduce you to a wide community of researchers and academics in Translation.
UCL charges an administrative fee and further details are included on the Affiliate Academics Scheme pages.
If you are interested in the work of CenTraS and would like to spend a period of research at UCL, please contact Dr Claire Yi-Yi Shih in the first instance.
During your stay at UCL, it may also be possible to attend some of our MSc modules as an auditing student. To do so, you will have to pay a supplementary fee, which will be worked out pro-rata to the total fees charged for the MSc.
The Centre for Languages & International Education offers full and part-time English for Academic Purposes as well as foreign language courses to UCL students, staff and London’s wider academic and professional community.
Accommodation in UCL halls and houses is reserved for students. Therefore, UCL cannot normally provide accommodation for affiliate academics during term-time, although it may be possible to book UCL accommodation during vacations. Enquiries about vacation accommodation should be addressed to the Student Residences Officer (firstname.lastname@example.org). Information about private accommodation for renting may be obtained from email@example.com.
