Welcome to the Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology

Working within the new Division of Psychology and Language Science (PALS), the Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology (RDCEHP) has four main objectives:

• To be the premier research group in the field of psychology applied to mental and physical health and education in the UK.
• To continue to embrace and celebrate outstanding individual problem driven scholarship.
• To engage enthusiastically in UCL's programme of interdisciplinary and cross faculty research.
• To continue to drive the agenda of professional psychology training, particularly in educational and clinical psychology.

Led by Professor Peter Fonagy (Head of Department) and Professor Norah Frederickson (Deputy Head), the RDCEHP aims to contribute to UCL’s mission of generating global impact through interdisciplinary research, leading enquiry into the areas identified by David Price (Vice-Provost for Research):

• Well being: What it means to be human: the nature of human beings, and human activity, the individual and social conditions necessary for a healthy and fulfilling life from childhood to old age, quality of life, personal medicine, human rights, and the setting of just priorities between different social goals.
• Global Health: Societal or natural forces such as poverty, governance, trade, climate change, and resources in health.
• Intercultural Interactions: What is the nature of identity and how does it interface with global stability?
• Sustainable Cities: Climate change, population growth and limitations on natural resources threaten the long term stability of 21st Century cities, of which London is a significant exemplar.

The RDCEHP has three key administrative bodies:

The Professorial Committee, who manage and formulate the research strategy for the Department.

The Graduate Teaching Committee, who are in charge of the Department's teaching leadership and the interface with Faculty teaching committees or teaching groups set up by the Division.

The Executive Committee, who are responsible for overseeing systems of estates, procurement, health and safety, security and ensuring that these are in line with UCL policies.
