| Research and Teaching interests |
My research explores processes of cultural evolution, especially in relation to the production and consumption of stylistic artefacts such as figure painted Greek pottery. This involves the application of cultural transmission theory (Boyd and Richerson 1985) and the neutral model developed by Neiman (1995) and expanded by Bentley et. al. (2004).
My research is grounded in the principles of human behavioural ecology and informed by several years of work in London's contemporary art market (1996-2002). In addition to the neutral model, I am interested in theories of art production related to prestige, status negotiation and sexual selection. |
