Lab History

The laboratories are housed in a building that was once the Institute of Physiology, built in the late 19th century by Ernest Starling. Our labs include the lab in which Starling discovered the first hormone (secretin) and coined Starling's 'law of the heart'.

The laboratories underwent a major rebuild in 2003-4, thanks to fuding through SRIF. Below are a series of pictures taken before, during and after the work.
