A Workshop for UCL International Students: 10 tips to help you build your confidence & adapt to living in the UK  

Convenor: Dr Caroline Selai, UCL Institute of Neurology & Co-director UCL Cultural Consultation Service

International students are invited to take part in an interactive and practical workshop designed to help you enhance your understanding of the UK cultural, social and educational context. You will be given tips and techniques on how to adapt to a new and unfamiliar culture and improve your overall confidence. It is well recognised that developing a good understanding of the UK social and educational framework can enhance your experience as a student in the UK as well as your learning outcomes.

Key topics include:

• Information about the UK culture and the system of teaching and learning at UCL.

• Tips and techniques to help you build your confidence and adapt to living in an unfamiliar culture.

• Attributes and skills valued in the UK.

• Case studies  demonstrating the experience of other international students.

• Benefits for your learning outcomes and general wellbeing as a result of adapting to living in the UK.
