Skills4Work Programme
Employer Led Skills Talks / Workshops
What to expect...
All recruiters look for evidence of a range of skills that will make applicants effective in the workplace. In addition to the resources and 1-1 advice we provide on Developing Skills and Experience, based on recommendations from the AGR, (Association of Graduate Recruiters), UCL Careers Service has put together the Skills4Work Programme.
Run in partnership with UCL Union, this series of employer led workshops and panel sessions will help you understand what recruiters are looking for and how to develop and promote your skills more effectively.
Details of workshops run by the Careers Service can be found below. Please visit the UCL Union website for information on workshops organised by them.
Do I have to book to attend?
YES! You MUST register in advance and pay a returnable £10 cash deposit in person at UCL Careers Service if you wish to attend any workshop or panel talk. This enables us to monitor attendance levels and ensure that they are more effective for those attending.
Places are allocated
to those making the payment on a first come, first served basis and more
students register interest online than there are places available so
you
will remain on a reserve list after registering until we receive your deposit. We therefore
recommend early payment to avoid disappointment!
Register using your "My Careers Service" account. If you're using this for the first time, please read the My Careers Service Instructions carefully before trying to log in.
You can register TWO weeks before a workshop and bookings will close when it is fully booked or, at the latest, 1 working day before the event.
Can I attend if I haven't booked?
Generally NO! Workshops are popular and usually fully booked. If places are available on the day, they will be offered to those on the reserve list as above on a first come first served basis and then to those who haven't booked at all but we cannot guarantee entry.
