Many recruiters deliver presentations throughout the Autumn and Spring terms to publicise their company and recruitment opportunities to UCL students and graduates.
They generally last for up to an hour and provide an ideal opportunity for you hear from newly hired recent graduates, recruitment staff and/or more senior staff about a particular company, their recruitment process, (tios on applications / interviews), opportunities available and what it’s like to work for them.
Additional time for informal networking is often available at the end of a presentation if you’re free to stay on to talk to the recruiters on a 1-1 basis but you can leave after the presentation if you can't stay more than an hour.
Details of presentations that will take place during the Autumn Term will be advertised here during Freshers' Week, (week commencing 22nd September 2014).
Receive Email Alerts...
If you would like to be notified by email when employers that you're interested in will be delivering presentations at UCL or at their own premises, we recommend that you register for UCLAlert! and ensure that your industry preferences are up to date.
For all Presentations, you MUST book in advance to guarantee a place. This enables us to monitor attendance levels and ensure that presentations are more effective for those attending.
Many Presentations are held "On Campus", (e.g. at the Careers Service, in the ULU Building or in one of the main UCL Buildings), and room details will be confirmed when you book to attend using your "My Careers Service" account. (If using this for the first time, please read the My Careers Service Instructions carefully before trying to log in).
Some Presentations below may however be "Off Campus" - venues organised by the recruiters themselves, often in their own offices. You will need to register with the recruiter directly for these and location details will be provided by them when your registration is confirmed. Any queries about your booking should be directed to the recruiter.
Booking for each Presentation will open TWO weeks before it takes place and will close when it is fully booked or, at the latest, at midnight on the day before the event takes place.
Cancellations for On Campus Presentations can be made at any time up to midnight the day before a presentation takes place so, if you're unable to book because a presentation is full, you can check My Careers Service regularly in case places do become available.
No deposit is required once you've booked and all presentations are free to attend.
Can I attend if I haven't booked?
On the day, after all registered students have arrived, space permitting, students that haven't booked will be admitted on a first come first served basis but we cannot guarantee entry.
To ensure you know when a Presentation you're interested in is available for booking, we strongly recommend that you register with UCLAlert!
The Researching your Career section of our website suggests a range of resources which provide information on specific occupations and what's happening in a particular sector at the moment plus company profiles for most of the recruiters listed below. A basic knowledge of these areas will allow you to focus on more in-depth questions at the presentation.
Our Networking section will give you tips on making the most of events like this.
For all Presentations, please aim to arrive 5 minutes before the published start time. If you arrive late, the facilitator reserves the right to refuse entry so that you don't disrupt the event for other attendees who arrived on time.
Presentations are popular and usually fully booked. If you know you'll be unable to attend a presentation, you can cancel your booking through your My Careers Service account at any time up until midnight on the day before the presentation takes place to allow another student to book in your place.
If you don't cancel in advance or don't turn up to a Presentation you're booked to attend, we will record a "No Show" which may affect your future bookings or use of our services.
Any company brochures or other resources left over after a presentation will be available in the Employer Literature section of our library.
The Researching your Career section of our site suggests alternative sources of information on specific companies / sectors if you've missed a presentation.
Using JobOnline, you will be able to find details of any vacancies that were being promoted by the company during the presentation.
Our Networking page will give tips on other ways of making employer contacts.
Register with UCLAlert! if you haven't done so already to ensure you don't miss out on similar events in future.
