Employer Presentations
What to expect...
Many recruiters deliver presentations throughout the Autumn and Spring terms to publicise their company and recruitment opportunities to UCL students and graduates.
They generally last for up to an hour and provide an ideal opportunity for you to listen to representatives from specific organisations to find out about the company, their recruitment process, opportunities available and what it’s like to work for them.
Additional time for informal networking is often available at the end of a presentation if you’re free to stay on to talk to the recruiters on a 1-1 basis.
Most Presentations are held "On Campus", (at the Careers Service, in the ULU Building or in one of the main UCL Buildings), and room details will be confirmed when you book to attend. For "Off Campus" presentations held at recruiters' own offices, location details will be provided before booking.
How to prepare...
The Researching your Career section of our website suggests a range of resources which provide information on specific occupations and what's happening in a particular sector at the moment plus company profiles for most of the recruiters listed below. A basic knowledge of these areas will allow you to focus on more in-depth questions at the presentation.
Our Networking section will give you tips on making the most of events like this.
Booking Instructions...
For all Presentations, you MUST book in advance to guarantee a place. This enables us to monitor attendance levels and ensure that presentations are more effective for those attending.
Bookings are made and managed via your "My Careers Service" account. If using this for the first time, please read the My Careers Service Instructions carefully before trying to log in.
Booking for each Presentation will open TWO weeks before it takes place and will close when it is fully booked or, at the latest, at midnight on the day before the event takes place.
Cancellations can be made at any time up to midnight the day before a presentation takes place so, if you're unable to book because a presentation is full, you can check My Careers Service regularly in case places do become available.
No deposit is required once you've booked and all presentations are free to attend.
Can I attend if I haven't booked?
On the day, after all registered students have arrived, space permitting, students that haven't booked will be admitted on a first come first served basis but we cannot guarantee entry.

Interested in a career in patents and trade marks?
Dawn
Ellmore Employment Agency Ltd is a market leader in the patent and
trade mark recruitment sector and we regularly assist organisations with
the recruitment of Trainee Patent Attorneys. The patent attorney
profession offers a challenging and rewarding career and we are
currently acting on behalf of several clients who are seeking to recruit
Trainee Patent Attorneys to commence positions at varying times
throughout the year. The patent sector remains buoyant even in this
difficult economic climate. Our clients are particularly interested in
making contact with students in the physics, electronics and computer
science related subject areas.
Although it is a small profession,
activity within it is diverse and rewarding. Purely financial rewards
are believed to be as good as those available in any other qualified
profession. In terms of job satisfaction, one is always dealing with
something new and innovative, whether it be a new invention or design or
the launching and marketing of a new product range.
Career
development is good and does not always end simply by being a partner in
a firm of patent agents or the head of a patents department. Some
patent agents move to executive or management positions, while others
move abroad, particularly to English speaking countries or to
multinational companies who work in English.
The patent attorney
profession offers a challenging and rewarding career and is one of the
best kept secrets in the modern professional world.
