Mathematicians are sought after in many different sectors – manufacturing, finance, utilities, the food and drink industry as well as government. Employers need students with both technical skills such as an ability to analyse data and high level mathematical skills together with general competencies such as time management and communication. These help ensure mathematicians can solve problems in many different arenas.
