Head of Service and PA
Karen has been the Director of UCL Careers since 2004. Her work involves managing the team of 40 professional staff and taking responsibility for the strategic development of careers and employability provision for the 25,000 students at UCL as well as recent graduates and post doctoral staff. Karen studied Physics at university and began her professional life teaching. After working in secondary education in the UK, she moved to Colombia, South America. She helped set up and subsequently became Head of the first school in Bogotà to offer the full British curriculum to both expatriate and local students.
As well as being the Director of UCL Careers, Karen is also responsible for the provision of careers education and advice to the departments of Medical Physics & Bioengineering, Physics & Astronomy and Space & Climate Physics. Karen is also a member of the Directorate of The Careers Group, University of London – the parent body of UCL Careers.
Zara is the PA to the Head of Service / Administrator at UCL. Subsequent to graduating from University, Zara has gained work experience in both the private and public sectors, including recruitment consultancy and charity fund raising. Within her current role, her main duties include providing a liaison point and information services to clients of UCL Careers Service.
