focus

We are pleased to announce that bookings are now open for this year’s Team Manager positions on the UCL Focus on Management programme.

Focus on Management is designed for new or aspiring managers and anyone who wishes to practise and refine their management techniques amongst a group of pre-selected, dedicated UCL students who are eager to connect with top organisations.  We offer a two-day, career-focused, practical course with an emphasis on management and leadership training for employer participants, and on teamwork, commercial awareness and presentation training for our students.

What does the course involve?
· You will spend two days facilitating a team of pre-selected, highly motivated UCL students complete four diverse case studies
· You will work on a variety of case studies, each of which are provided by different graduate employers
· You will receive guidance and feedback from a professional coach throughout the programme
· As well as working closely with your team you will have the opportunity to network with all participants and raise your companies profile amongst our students

The course will help you to:
· Try out different leadership styles and techniques in a “safe” environment
· Organise teams, facilitate project work, discussions and decisions, share workload across the team and ensure deadlines are met
· Reflect, evaluate and improve your leadership style with the help of an experienced professional coach

Watch the video to hear from some of the team managers who have taken part in the programme:

Previous participants said:

“It exceeded my expectations. Challenging and diverse case studies, great teams and excellent coaching” Hasan, Cantab Capital, 2016

“It made a real change to the usual “training” structure, of talk, group, work, feedback, talk.  I really enjoyed how practical and hands on the course was, despite being incredibly nervous” Amy, UCL Widening Participation, 2016

“It enabled me to not only test out different styles of management but give the team the opportunities to experience what it can be like in a team in the ‘real’ world.  It was great fun” Jonathon, Wellcome Trust, 2016
