The Employer Engagement Team helps employers fill graduate, internship and placement vacancies and raise their profile with UCL students.

We manage a programme of events including fairs, presentations and skills development sessions, and offer a range of channels to advertise career opportunities.

We are always happy to discuss individual employers' needs face to face or by phone.

Phil Howe: Employer Engagement & Business Development Manager

Phil heads up the team who provide our range of services and events for employers, including recruitment events, placements and vacancy services, skills development programmes, and employer-led careers programmes in academic departments. He also sits on the Careers Management Team. Much of his time is spent meeting and advising employers who wish to recruit our students and graduates, and developing relationships with those who already do. Phil has worked for UCL Careers Service since 2000 in a variety of roles, including Acting Head of Careers. An English graduate from Royal Holloway, University of London, Phil has also worked in the insurance industry and managed a touring theatre company.

Shak Chowdhury: Employer & Alumni Engagement Manager (UCL School of Management)

Employed through UCL Careers, Shak’s role as Employer & Alumni Engagement Manager for UCL School of Management focuses on developing stronger partnerships between the School and high profile employers across a wide range of sectors and activities. She and her team work closely with employers to deliver effective on-campus strategy based on their objectives and targets, which strengthens awareness of their brand and opportunities amongst students studying in the School. Her work involves maximising student opportunity to engage with employers in a broad range of activities, including employer case studies, curriculum-based teaching, one-to-one coaching and mentoring, etc. with the aim of improving students’ soft/technical skills and commercial acumen, and enabling them to demonstrate such skills much more effectively to potential employers, ultimately improving their employability.  In addition, Shak sources industry participants for UCL School of Management’s international activities at home and overseas, and is responsible for the development and delivery of alumni engagement strategy for the School, so that it enjoys stronger relationships with its alumni and utilises them more effectively as a source for potential business and employment opportunities.

After graduating with a degree in English Literature, she worked in graduate recruitment for a variety of organisations, where her responsibilities included developing national campus marketing and attraction strategy, designing and implementing best practice in-house recruitment and selection processes, rolling out effective graduate inductions and development programmes, and managing summer internship programmes for business areas including consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, marketing and software engineering.

Weronika Benning: Acting Employer Engagement & Business Development Manager

Weronika organises employer events that focus on student skill development, namely the Skills4Work programme and the employer-led events within the Global Citizenship Employability Programme. She works with a variety of employers to deliver sessions on basic employability skills, which are relevant to all students. She started at UCL Careers in 2013 as an intern, following graduation from Queen Mary, where she studied English Language & Linguistics.

Olivia Hynes: Employer Engagement & Events Officer (Engineering)

Olivia is part of the Employer Engagement team and works with the Faculty of Engineering. Her current role entails creating a bespoke programme of events that will meet both employer and student needs from soft skills workshops to graduate presentations and networking events. After graduating from the University of Manchester with a degree in English, Olivia worked in their Careers Service in both Employer Engagement and the Internships and Placements team before joining UCL in 2015.

Mala Mohindru: Employer Engagement & Events Officer (Engineering)

Mala Mohindru: Employer Engagement Officer, Engineering

Mala has been a part of the Employer Engagement and Events team since 2014 and works with the Faculty of Engineering. She is responsible for managing employer relations and a bespoke engagement programme that targets both undergraduate and postgraduate students. These events range from Faculty wide to curriculum based departmental activities. Mala graduated with a degree in Business Management and comes from a background in employer engagement and SME recruitment based within the Civil Service.

Pat is part of the Employer Engagement Team at UCL, administrating and managing the Employer Careers Fairs and presentation programme. Away from work, Pat enjoys football and socialising.

Joanna Cooper: Employer & Alumni Engagement Administrator (UCL School of Management)

Joanna works directly with the UCL School of Management. She is responsible for administrative functions to ensure the smooth running of Employer Engagement events and Alumni Activities. Her role entails assisting the organisation of bespoke events and activities for employers, alumni and current students to increase opportunities for students to network and build connections with employers.

After graduating from UCL in 2015, with a degree in History, Joanna joined the Employer Engagement team in January 2016.

Vivienne Watson: Employer Engagement Officer (Researchers)

Vivienne oversees the employer led events programme for researchers at UCL. She organises sector specific Forums/Fairs for researchers interested in finding out about working in a particular industry and also runs the employer led careers skills workshop programme for researchers. These workshops are designed to help researchers develop their employability skills in areas such as teamwork, leadership, presentation skills and networking. Prior to working at UCL Vivienne worked in the Imperial College London Careers service. She studied History and History of Art at UCL and Mandarin at SOAS.

Tina Whittle: Employer & Alumni Engagement Officer (UCL School of Management)

Tina Whittle: Employer Engagement Officer, School of Management

Tina is specifically aligned to the UCL School of Management and is responsible for  Employer Engagement and Alumni Activities. She works closely with a broad range of employers from all sectors and organises a programme of activities to maximise opportunities for students to network and build connections with employers. She also advises graduate employers on recruitment and works with them to development engagement strategies on campus.

Prior to working at UCL Tina has worked within the corporate sector specialising in graduate and experience hire recruitment in London and Sydney.
