An interview is the chance to demonstrate your knowledge, motivation and skills. Interview formats can vary from one to one, panel, telephone or video and can focus on competency-based and strength-based questions. When you're preparing for an interview, there is a lot of support available to help you...

We also have a range of specific resources available if you have been asked to complete Psychometric Tests or attend an Assessment Centre.

Careers Tagged is a digital careers library, providing links to a wide range of useful websites and other e-resources to help you prepare for any type of interview.

Use general Search Tags such as "interviews", or more specific Tags such as "case interviews", "telephone interviews" "video interviews" to get listings of relevant resources including:

  • A range of interview help sheets for UCL students / graduates
  • General interview guidance and advice for specific types of interview
  • Tips on how best to prepare for an interview
  • Common interview questions
  • Online discussion forums so you can hear from other students who've been through similar interviews

*This is a subscription-based resource. Current UCL students will need their UCL userid/password to log in. Recent graduates will need to log in to My UCL Careers and use the graduate userid/password provided on the home page.

Rooms for Telephone/Skype Interviews

Unfortunately we don't have the space to offer bookable rooms for interviews at UCL Careers, but there are other places on campus you can book rooms.

  • UCL Libraries offer bookable private study rooms across campus which may be appropriate for this purpose. You can book on the UCL Libraries website. You'll need to log in with your library barcode number (on the back of your student card) and PIN.

We organise a wide range of events and workshops, many of which can be really useful to those at the interview stage...

Most events require advance booking so follow the links below for more information on:

  • Careers Essentials Programme (Autumn and Spring Terms): A series of Careers Consultant led talks aimed at all students and recent graduates which includes sessions on interviews amongst other topics.
  • Skills4Work Workshops (Autumn Term): A series of employer led workshops, some of which focus on interview skills.
