Students listening to lecture

With a mix of panel discussions, presentations, information sessions, networking events and one-to-one coaching, Sector Themed Weeks are an ideal opportunity for you to hear from industry professionals, UCL alumni and Careers Consultants and ask specific questions in order to gain a better understanding of what you need to succeed in a particular sector.

Before the Week

You don’t have to come along to every event during a Sector Themed Week but you will have to book for each one you are hoping to attend. This works on a first come first served basis, details of which you will find below.

Each Sector Themed Week has a Programme which outlines each event and will give you a brief description of what to expect. You will also find links to employers and speakers for you to discover more about who will be speaking or presenting at your chosen event.Use our Help with… pages to brush up on your knowledge of the industry beforehand to really make the most of events during the week.

After the Event / Unable to Attend?

The list of individual events and speaker profiles for each Themed Week will still be available below. Use these to identify organisations that can provide information or event potential contacts as many speakers involved with Themed Weeks will be happy for you to contact them via LinkedIn or the UCL Alumni Web Community.

Additionally, the relevant pages of our Help With... section can also help you further research the sector you're interested in, find current vacancies plus give you information on support available when writing applications or preparing for interviews.

Late Arrivals, Cancellations and No Shows...

For all Themed Week events, please aim to arrive 5 minutes before the published start time. If you arrive late, the facilitator reserves the right to refuse entry so that you don't disrupt the event for other attendees who arrived on time.

Presentations are popular and usually fully booked. If you know you'll be unable to attend a presentation, you can cancel your booking through your My UCL Careers account at any time up until midnight on the day before the presentation takes place to allow another student to book in your place.

No Shows:

If you don't cancel in advance or don't turn up to a Presentation you're booked to attend, we will record a "No Show" which may affect your future bookings or use of our services.

Details of planned Themed Weeks can be found below. For details of organisations who attended Autumn Term events, please see the "After the Event" section above.

Please also remember to register for UCLAlert! if you want to be emailed with information about other events as they're planned...

If you would like to be notified by email when workshops are open for booking, we recommend that you register for UCLAlert!.

For all events taking place throughout each Themed Week, you MUST book online in advance if you wish to attend. This enables us to monitor attendance levels and ensure that they are more effective for those attending. Registration is done through your "My UCL Careers" account. If you're using this for the first time, please read the My UCL Careers Instructions carefully before trying to log in.

You can register for all events in a Themed Week TWO weeks before the week starts and bookings will close when each workshop is fully booked or, at the latest, 1 working day before the event.

Can I attend if I haven't booked?

Generally NO! These events are popular and usually fully booked. On the day, after all registered students have arrived, space permitting, students that haven't booked will be admitted on a first come first served basis but we cannot guarantee entry.
