Community Annotation
We welcome the contribution of scientific experts who can aid us in our task of annotating human gene products. There are several ways of being involved:
| Pathway or Area expert | Has ongoing responsiblity for the structure of the ontology of a particular pathway or area of interest. Will probably have attended an ontology content meeting, and worked closely with GO editors on development of the ontology. |
|
Gene or Protein expert |
Has ongoing responsibility for the annotation of a particular gene product. Works closely with the GO annotator to ensure that the annotation associated with the gene product is complete and accurate. Has a responsibility to alert annotators to new papers/findings to keep annotation updated. |
| Gene or Protein family expert | Has ongoing responsibility for the annotation of a family of proteins, related by structure or function. Works closely with the GO annotator to ensure that the annotation associated with the gene products are complete and accurate. Has a responsibility to alert annotators to new papers/findings to keep annotation updated. |
| Community annotator | Has contributed to the annotation of human gene products but does not maintain ongoing responsibility for the annotations. |
If would would like to volunteer for one of these roles, or if you would like more information on what it might involve, please contact us.
