Thank you for your interest in the work of the UCL Cancer Institute Research Trust. This is a very exciting time in cancer research with scientists at the UCL Cancer Institute forming part of the team who recently made a landmark discovery into the genetic makeup of tumours. This was featured across the world in many news outlets (BBC Link here), and this breakthrough has the potential to lead to the development of new therapies enabling the body’s immune system to fight many cancers.
In the light of this and other recent successes, cancer research at UCL is now a key priority for the central UCL fundraising body, the UCL Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO), which will accordingly be prioritising cancer research as part of their fundraising campaign.
The Trustees of the UCL Cancer Institute Research Trust have therefore decided that all future fundraising on behalf of the UCL Cancer Institute should be carried out by DARO, so that there is one unified and coordinated approach to donors. As a consequence of that decision, the Trust is now conducting an orderly winding down of its operations.
