The event was co-hosted by CIRT trustee Nicola Horlick, in the presence of Royal Patron HRH Princess Alexandra.

Guests heard Nicola Horlick’s moving account of losing her daughter to leukaemia and the importance of increased funding for research to find more effective and safer treatments for cancer patients. Institute Director, Professor Tariq Enver spoke about the changing landscape of cancer research and the game-changing developments underway at UCL Cancer Institute to devise new personalised cancer treatments with a focus on immunotherapies.

Karen Wint, Chief Executive of the UCL Cancer Institute Research Trust said: “I am delighted that so many guests could join us at St. James’s Palace to show their support for our new campaign. Precision medicine is now within our reach, and The Hope Appeal will play a pivotal role in accelerating this area of cancer research, bringing fresh hope to families, and most importantly saving many lives."
