Serving on Student and Teaching - Related Committees
There are two UCL-mandated committees which represent the students’ interests at the Institute level: the student-staff consultative committee (SSCC) and the graduate teaching and research committee (GT&RC).
Student-staff consultative committee
The purpose of the SSCC is to receive feedback from all postgraduate research and taught programme students within the Cancer Institute on all aspects of their academic life; including the quality of supervision, training, and support they are given. Issues concerning Institute and College policies are discussed, notification of practice or policy changes are disseminated, and health and safety practices are reviewed. The minutes of these meetings are sent to the Institute GT&RC, and are sent to the faculty-level SSCC. Students volunteer to serve on the Institute Committee or can become a student representative to the faculty committee. We ask several academics to serve on this committee each year. Please contact the Graduate Tutor for more information and consider serving on this committee. It meets twice per year.
Graduate teaching and research committee
The GT&RC discusses issues and best practice relating to all taught elements and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students within the Institute. This committee is served by academic staff and has a student representative who is nominated/volunteers for the academic year. This committee meets twice per year. If interested in participating, please contact the DGT.
