Information for New Students

Welcome to UCL Cancer Institute

As a new student, you are required to attend induction meetings, which will provide you with the information necessary to enable you to commence work. You will be given a copy of, and briefed on, all relevant policies and procedures as well as relevant departmental, faculty or UCL procedures.

1) As part of the induction process, new students must meet with the Divisional Graduate Tutor, Dr Julie Olszewski, the Cancer Institute Human Resources team (Sarah Jeffries) and the UCL Health and Safety Lead (Sonia Buckingham)

On their first day, they will be given dates for their Induction meetings, which will include:

  • Safety Induction
  • Building Tour
  • New Student Welcome

2) Additionally, new students will meet separately with the Graduate Tutor and should e-mail Julie Olszewski to arrange at time for this.

3) The UCL Doctoral School has induction meetings for new students in early October and again in early January each year. New students are required to attend one of these sessions which is closest to when they start. For further information and dates for induction meetings please see the UCL Doctoral School website

It is essential that all of these meetings are attended.
