Online Log and Skills Development
To fulfil UCL’s commitment to the quality of its research programmes, the Graduate School provides the online Research Student Log for the use of all research students at UCL. The log allows you to set research goals, record your achievements and training, assess your progress along a student timeline and document meetings with your supervisors. The Log is a mandatory component of all UCL research degree programmes. Both you and your supervisor must work on this together; it is a good idea to do small updates each time you meet with them. MPhil upgrades and applications for entry to examination will not be approved unless the log is satisfactorily completed.
The Graduate School runs a Skills Development Programme which is open to all graduate research students at UCL. The purpose of the programme is to give students the opportunity to expand their generic research skills and personal transferable skills. Students are encouraged to attend a minimum of two weeks training per calendar year.
On the Skills Development Programme site, you can find details of the programme of the practical skills training courses and workshops running this academic year, as well as general information and useful links in relation to generic and transferable skills training.
You are also able to register for training courses and manage your skills training portfolio through the online log research student log.
