UCL wins Hurun UK 2018 Award for Alumni Activities in China
12 February 2018
UCL is delighted to announce that UCL’s alumni activities in China were recognised on Friday 9 February with a Hurun UK 2018 award.
The Hurun UK awards are now in their third year, and the glittering awards ceremony took place in London. The prestigious evening saw over two hundred people in attendance, including many high profile business leaders and VIPs from the UK and China. The Hurun UK awards recognise those that have made outstanding contributions to the UK-China relationship, and UCL is very proud to have been selected for this accolade.
UCL was recognised at the event with an award for ‘services to an active alumni’. The university has over 6000 alumni across China, with two successful and vibrant alumni clubs in Beijing and Shanghai who produce an extensive programme of events.
UCL’s Vice Provost (Research) Professor David Price was honoured to accept the award on behalf of UCL. Other awards on the night also reflected strong business and cultural relationships between China and the UK. David Price said:
’This award reflects UCL’s strong and growing relationship with China, we are very proud to receive it. We are also very proud of our active and growing Chinese alumni groups, and it is a real pleasure to be able to celebrate them and their work tonight’.
Last year saw UCL launch its first ever China graduation ceremony in Beijing, this landmark event was attended by over 200 Chinese graduates. UCL plans to follow on from the success of this inaugural event with a regular annual graduation ceremony.
