Designing and Planning Teaching
The unit contains a set of
Powerpoint slides which outline the activities during a three-hour workshop for early career HE teaching staff. The materials could be adapted by workshop leaders or
used for self-study purposes. The CPD4HE project brief was to emphasise digital literacies and e-learning and that is evident in this unit.
The Notes pages in the presentation contain Clive Young’s comments on the teaching session, together with references and brief comments on these. Three short videos were used in the session and the code for embedding these is also included in the Notes.

Introduction
The PowerPoint presentation was used in an introductory
workshop. The workshop considered some basic approaches to planning teaching
sessions, with an emphasis on teaching and learning in a technology-rich environment.
This was part of the first module of a
Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Some participants were early career lecturers
or teaching fellows but the cohort also included research staff and research
students, who had a more limited teaching role. The slides summarise the topics covered and
the activities undertaken by the students.
The Notes pages contain Clive Young’s comments on the session, together with brief comments on the readings that are referred to in the presentation. Three short videos were used in the session and the code for embedding these is also included in the Notes.
In this unit there is also a link to a collection of ‘Moodle mini-guides’, which may provide a useful starting point for those developing moodle support materials in their own institutions.
