Image: T1-weighted MEMRI shows enhanced viable tissue and T1-mapping MEMRI images reveal subtle changes in T1 values in the remote myocardium and area-at-risk (AAR) 40 minutes after coronary artery ligation.
Use: Manganese is a potent MRI contrast agent and can enter myocytes through L-type calcium channels, making it an interesting imaging probe for Ca2+ channel activity. In this study, we use Cardiac T1 mapping-manganese-enhanced MRI (MEMRI) to monitor Ca2+ influx during early stages of ischemic injury.
