MBI® e-learning

The Department of Biochemical Engineering at UCL is the world's largest provider of trained biochemical engineers for the bioprocess industries. Through our 3-4 day on-site MBI® modules we've helped literally thousands of delegates from hundreds of companies get the training in bioprocessing that they need to get on in their careers.

We are delighted to announce that we will launch our first e-learning modules from August 2007:

• Bioproducts Recovery and Loss: A study of recovery of fermentation broths using centrifuges or membrane filters
• Successful Biomaterial Transfer, Pumping and Flow to Chromatography Columns
• Successful Bioreactor Mixing
• Successful Bioreactor Temperature Management

Each module is designed to help you reach your goals working either from home or in your own workplace. The modules have been developed with the support of Scottish Enterprise and each has been tested extensively at UCL to ensure ease of use and quality of content. We believe the modules represent a significant innovation in the bioprocess leadership space.

Assessment and accreditation

Each module can be taken on a stand-alone basis or can be combined with other e-modules and on-site modules. (We are currently exploring suitable assessment mechanisms and whether credits towards a Certificate, Diploma or Masters degree can be given for successful completion of an e-module).

Support

E-mentor is a support system that allows you to ask your personal mentor questions via e-mail. You will receive a personal response.

Pre-requisites

The modules are designed specifically for industrialists and are pitched at graduate level.

Prices and payment

Each module costs £300. Delegates can send a cheque or purchase order number or we can invoice your company.
