Darren Nesbeth made Associate Professor

Dr Darren Nesbeth

Dr Darren Nesbeth has been promoted to the post of Associate Professor. The appointment was made in light of the work he's done establishing Synthetic Biology teaching activities at UCL Biochemical Engineering, as well as success in successive iGEM competitions. 

Sunny Bains Made Principal Teaching Fellow

Dr Sunny Bains has been promoted to the post of Principal Teaching Fellow following her leadership of the Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP) Communications & Teaching agenda, and also for her engineering engagement activities. This is recognition of the strong impact Sunny has made since joining UCL Biochemical Engineering two years ago and we warmly congratulate her for her achievement.

Congratulations to Tarit for his recent promotion. Professor Mukhopadhyay was recognised for his leadership of vaccine bioprocessing research and teaching agendas, leadership of the Gates Foundation ULTRA grant and the new EPSRC Vaccine Manufacturing Research Hub.

Launched in 2017, UCL’s FTHM engages leading academics (Philosophy, Pharmacy, Engineering, Decision Tools Analysis, etc.) working in a cross-disciplinary way with industrial partners to ensure that a new generation of stratified medicines can be developed quickly and manufactured at a cost affordable to society.

Dr Andrea Rayat Appointed Lecturer in Bioseparations (Downstream Processing)

Andrea has been working on the recently-launched kompAsTM commercialisation of ultra scale-down at UCL Biochemical Engineering, but we’re very pleased to share the good news that last month she has been made a lecturer in bioseparations (Downstream Processing) here in UCL Biochemical Engineering. Andrea will continue work on kompAsTM through knowledge transfer activities, lead the research and development of next generation ultra scale-down technologies and the wider area of bioseparations for primary recovery or downstream processing.

Hamza Patel Year In Industry Student Biochemical Engineering

Congratulations to Hamza Patel for being nominated star employee in the SRG IP team at GlaxoSmithKline. Hamza has been on a year-in-industry placement with GSK for his final year as and MEng Engineering (Biochemical) student.
