The Royal Academy of Engineering is a national academy which aims to bring together the most successful and talented engineers from across all engineering sectors to advance and promote excellence in engineering. Professor Gary Lye was nominated this year to join the 2016 intake of fellows.

There are just over 1,500 Fellows in total with no more than 50 new Fellows being elected in any one year. Recipients have to be peer-nominated by two existing Fellows.

Gary’s nomination was in recognition for his work on high throughput bioprocess development platforms and their transfer into industrial practice as well as his contributions to the training and career development of future industry leaders through EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Bioprocess Engineering Leadership.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be honoured in this way. I’m particularly pleased that the nomination recognised our contributions to the training of early career researchers as they are the real future of the discipline." Gary Lye, September 2016
