Chilterns and Middlesex local section of the Royal Society of Chemistry Appoints James Allen

29 January 2018

James has been elected to the Chilterns and Middlesex local section of the RSC (http://www.rsc.org/Membership/Networking/LocalSections/ChilternsAndMiddlesex/). The committee is involved in a range of local chemistry related events including public engagement, access and schools, and chemistry research in the region.

“The RSC has been doing great work with the local section schools in increasing engagement in the chemical sciences and if any UCL staff or alumni have ideas that would benefit from RSC involvement please get in touch, especially if you’d be interested in organising events. Previous examples include, not only interaction with schools and young scientists, but public lectures and engaging chemistry-related talks and presentations. We are currently examining the possibility of hosting a London-based flash talk series for early career researchers (early post-docs and some final year PhDs) to improve science presentation skills. If anyone would particularly like to get involved, or has any ideas about how they would like to see this run, do keep me updated.  I am excited to be able to represent biochemical engineering within the wider chemical community and look forward to aiding the department here at UCL in turn.”
