Biochemical Engineering at British Conference of Undergraduate Research

5 May 2017

"On April 26th 2017, we were proud to represent the department of Biochemical Engineering at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR17) in Bournemouth. Our research stemmed from the scenario week on sustainability.

We detailed the sustainable analysis of bioethanol from sugar beet pulp, a byproduct of the sugar beet used by the sugar industry in the UK. We were able to apply the fundamental biochemical engineering theories to produce a flow sheet of a feasible process that can be applied in industry. The conference was an enriching experience which allowed us to further practice presenting to the wider public.

Participating in the conference was an insight into our future careers as biochemical engineers. Finally, we definitely recommend all students to participate in the upcoming conferences."
