A month long STEM campaign called 'Pretty Curious', initiated by EDF Energy was run in order to inspire and encourage 12 and 13 year old girls to take STEM subjects in school.

A temporary studio was set up across the country in 4 different locations and a series of fun challenges and STEM related activities were presented to the girls which included hands on experience with the latest virtual reality games, artificial intelligence, smart gadgets, wearable technology and more! Female volunteers from a variety of different STEM backgrounds were present so that the girls could ask questions about the participants chosen careers and what they liked about our own jobs. The campaign reached over 1600 girls nationwide and feedback from the girls was extremely positive with many saying they would definitely study STEM in the future because of their experience at the event.

"As a STEM ambassador and advocate for women in engineering, I am always on the lookout for projects like this where I can promote STEM to younger students. So when I came across the 'Pretty Curious' campaign, it really caught my attention due to the nationwide impact it aimed to have on inspiring the next generation of girls. Working on this campaign with fellow ambassadors was extremely fun and rewarding and the best part was definitely seeing the look of awe on their faces when discovering new technology, making the experience all the more memorable" Asma Ahmad, March 2017
