The Bogota 'Panoptico'

The building known in Bogota, Colombia, as the 'panoptico' was constructed between 1874 and 1905 as a prison, according to a design produced by the architect Thomas Reed in the 1850s. The building is not, however, a panopticon, but cruciform in shape. The 'panoptico' has, since 1948, been the home of the National Museum of Colombia.
