Above is a photograph from the event celebrating the publication, by Athlone Press in 1968, of the first volumes of The Collected Works of Jeremy Bentham.

We are only able to identify:

  • Professor James. H. Burns, the first General Editor of the Collected Works and Director of the Bentham Project (far left)
  • Dr Timothy L. S. Sprigge, editor of the first two volumes of Bentham's Correspondence (left)

If you are able to identify the other two people pictured, we would be delighted to hear from you so that we can update this page! It has been suggested to us that the gentleman on the right was representative of Athlone Press, but beyond that we have no further details.
