The Bartlett School of Graduate Studies is the source of some of the most outstanding minds and most influential research in the field of the built environment. Our work tackles some of the greatest challenges facing mankind, in areas such as health, sustainable cities and human well-being. We are part of The Bartlett: UCL's global faculty of the built environment.

Profile

Biography

Kerstin is a trained architect from Germany, where she completed her Diploma in Architecture (University of Hannover), as well as her PhD thesis "The Space-Organisation Relationship" (Technical University of Dresden).

From 2006-2008 she was working in a 'Knowledge Transfer Partnership' between UCL and Spacelab Architects, where she developed a business process examining links between space and effectiveness in the workplace, enabling a better service to be provided to clients in analysing the working environment. As a result Spacelab Architects were able to successfully enter the workplace consultancy market, offering novel and innovative services to clients across various industries.

She joined UCL as a Teaching Fellow in January 2009 and was appointed Lecturer in October 2009.

Research Summary

Kerstin's research interests include complex buildings and workplace environments, organisational theory and organisational behaviour, Social Network Analysis, and evidence-based design practices.

She is also working as a consultant in cooperation with the London-based architectural practice Spacelab, offering her expertise in research-based case studies to help clients understand their workplace environments and the relationship between spatial structure and behaviours.
