Middle Egyptian Language and Texts


The course aims to equip students to make use of Egyptian textual material in the original language, and is a foundation for further language and text work.

Topics include: Middle Egyptian orthography, morphology, and sentence structure, and the reading of short inscriptional passages, and short passages of Hieratic text in conventional hieroglyphic transcription.

This course will be superseded by course ARCL2046 from 2014-15.
