Job Vacancy: Laboratory Technician in Biomolecular Archaeology

The UCL Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for a Laboratory Technician in Biomolecular Archaeology (Ref.: 1777472). The deadline for applications is 2 February 2019.

A Laboratory Technician is sought to provide biomolecular technical and laboratory support to the Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded 'UpNorth' project. The primary role of the post is to assist with sample preparation of archaeological samples for biomolecular analysis.

Specific duties include: processing archaeological samples for stable isotope analysis and ZooMs analysis (and potentially DNA analysis), using wet chemistry techniques and running sample analysis at various UCL isotope facilities in consultation with the laboratory managers.

The post is funded until 30 September 2020 in the first instance.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a laboratory environment and a BSc in a relevant science discipline (e.g. chemistry, biology, biochemistry or equivalent) or background in relevant techniques. They will also have hands-on experience using wet chemistry techniques.
