Artefact Study

The study of any artefact raises many questions:

Examination procedures to answer research questions:

• Use of magnifying glass and microscope to exam the surface for evidence on material, forming techniques, corrosions and marks of tools and use
• Study of the related artefacts from the same archaeological context and period
• Review of published literature on the subject
• Use of scanning electron microscope (SEM) to help identifying raw materials and glazing methods
• Reconstructing experiments to understand the technological process
