Artefact Study
The study of any artefact raises many questions:
Examination procedures to answer research questions:
- Use of magnifying glass and microscope to exam the surface for evidence on material, forming techniques, corrosions and marks of tools and use
- Study of the related artefacts from the same archaeological context and period
- Review of published literature on the subject
- Use of scanning electron microscope (SEM) to help identifying raw materials and glazing methods
- Reconstructing experiments to understand the technological process
