History:Macalister/1949, 121: `It was in the posession of Rev. J. O'Laverty, P.P., Hollywood, in 1873: its present position is unknown'.

Hamlin/2001, 57: `It came to light in the 1870s, noted first by Patterson, then described by O'Laverty ... The stone had come from an extensive cemetery `which had been entirely subjected to tillage' in the field nearly opposite the entrance to Echlinville demesne, and was at that time in Holywood Church. O'Laverty was Parish Priest of Holywood, so it is likely that he had taken the stone into safe-keeping'.
