Location: | earliest Macalister/1945, 306: `Standing apparently on its original site, in a field on the eastern side of the road passing by the farm of Bodfeddan, between two and three miles north-east of Ty Croes railway station'. |
Form: | plain Edwards/1986, 23, follows Wilson/1982--1983, 285, in suggesting that this stone may possibly be a re-used pre-historic standing stone. |
Condition: | incomplete , good Macalister/1945, 307, records that the right hand edge and the top of the stone have suffered flaking as a result of attempts to break up the stone for building material. |

Decorations: | Wilson/1982--1983, 385, argues that the hollow on the east face may be a `cup-mark', making the stone a re-used prehistoric standing stone. |

Language: | Latin (rcaps) |
Ling. Notes: | The spelling of iacit indicates post-classical Latin pronounciation and orthography. The name 'Cunogusi' is British with a Latin genitive ending. |
Palaeography: | Nash-Williams/1950, 55: `Roman capitals, with horizontal final -I'. The inscription is entirely in capitals. Most forms are unexceptional. Macalister's drawing has the first `V' in Cunogusi with a bowed right-hand upright, and the `N' where the diagonal extends beyond the left upright. These features are not found in the drawings of Westwood/1879, RCAHMW/1937, or Nash-Williams/1950. The `S' in Cunogusi extends below the `base-line' and (in Macalister/1945) is sloped to the right. The final 'I' in Cunogusi is horizontal. Macalister has the letters `CIT' of iacit as smaller than the other letters on this line. |
Legibility: | good The inscription is clear. |

Williams/1980, 19-20, also discusses the name and, although citing possible Welsh parallels, he sees it as Irish.
