History:Fanning/OhEailidhe/1980, 13, `Found built into the wall of the former R.C. church when the building was being altered for use as a parish centre in the 1960s. The stone is at present in the possession of Mrs. Canavan of Bellaugh, Athlone, though it is intended eventually to display it in the new R.C. church at Cloonowen'.

Palaeography:CISP: The second O is almost lozenge-shaped, while if the first letter was an O it was rounded. The R could be taken as either half-uncial or majuscule. It is likely that the inscription was in half-uncial.
