Palaeography: | CISP: The lettering is Insular half-uncial. The A is in the 'OC' form. The T has a curved ascender and a flat to-stoke and the E is in the open uncial form. The first L has a bifurcated serif like that on the B of CLMAC/254. The initial M looks like a minusule N and U have been ligatured. The first two ascenders are joined at the top by a curved stroke and the second and third ascenders are joined at the bottom by a curved stroke. This form of M is paralleled at Langombrac'h in Brittany (LDAUL/1) and at Llanllyr in Cardiganshire (LLLYR/1). |
