Formerly a portion of an ancient churchyard.
NMRS/NO56SE22: `The gardens to the west of the Cathedral, called `The College Yards' are said to be the site of a céli Dé foundation of Malcolm II (1105-1134). On the erection of the episcopal see, c.1150, the prior and brethren of the Culdee community became the chapter of the cathedral'.
Roughly contemporary are the round tower (c.1000), a hogback grave-marker and the cross-slab fragment.
