The EU

The Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for a Research Associate on the EU-funded MedSTACH project (part-time, Ref.: 1692939). The deadline for applications is 12 December 2017.

A part-time Research Associate is sought to join the MedSTACH project, an EU-funded project whose aim is to establish Cyprus as a regional hub for computational, spatial and other scientific approaches to archaeology and cultural heritage in Cyprus and the wider Eastern Mediterranean area.

The principal duty of the Research Associate will be to assist with scoping the current state-of-the-art in terms of computational, spatial and other scientific approaches to archaeology and cultural heritage, both in the eastern Mediterranean and worldwide, with a view to identifying particular ways in which a Cyprus-based centre might excel.

The post is available from 1 February 2018, funded until 31 August 2018.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in archaeology or a related discipline (completed or in final stages*). They will have a track record of working in the Eastern Mediterranean. They will also have experience in computational, digital and/or materials science approaches and a proven ability to undertake research of the highest quality.

*If the successful candidate does not hold a PhD, they will be appointed as a Research Assistant on Grade 6B, point 24 (£30,316 pro-rata per annum) until their PhD has been awarded.
