World Archaeology Festival 2017

The Institute's annual World Archaeology Festival event will take place this year on Saturday 10 June from 12pm-5pm.

In the Institute's 80th year, the World Archaeology Festival 2017 will involve lots of activities in Gordon Square and also in the Institute of Archaeology building for families and all members of the public.

Tours of the Institute's world-renowned collections and object handling-sessions will be available while archaeologically-related activities for adults and children alike will also be on offer as well as displays of experimental archaeological techniques.

The event forms the Institute's contribution to the Council of British Archaeology's Festival of Archaeology and this year is also part of UCL's inaugural Its All Academic Festival which will be a celebration of all that is great at UCL!

An associated event on 10 June from 10am-12.30pm involves exploring the past and present of the Olympic Park where Jonathan Gardner will give a talk at the Institute followed by a tour of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, east London.

The Institute of Archaeology encourages an ongoing commitment to public engagement and outreach activities as part of its mission statement to provide archaeological opportunities of the highest quality to all, regardless of background.
