New collaboration for Ceramic Technology Research Network (Dr Patrick Quinn (IoA) & Dr Christoph Berthold (CCA-BW))

A new collaboration has been initiated between the Competence Center Archeometry–Baden Wuerttemberg (CCA-BW) at the University of Tübingen and the Institute's Ceramic Technology Research Network.

An MoU between the CCA-BW group, led by Dr Christoph Berthold, and the Ceramic Technology Research Network, co-ordinated by Patrick Quinn, has been signed to encourage academic co-operation through research and teaching in the field of scientific archaeological ceramic analysis. Patrick visited Tübingen recently to discuss future activities between both institutions. Collaborative research projects as well as exchanges between Institute of Archaeology and Tubingen CCA-BW researchers for training are planned.

The collaboration also involves Institute alumna, Silvia Amicone, who recently completed her PhD on ceramic analysis and is now a post-doctoral researcher with CCA-BW as well as an Institute of Archaeology Honorary Research Associate.

The Institute's Ceramic Technology Research Network brings together staff and early stage researchers interested in the study of ancient ceramic technology, organising focused group activities that cross-cut the wide chronological and geographic coverage of UCL archaeological ceramics research.
