Open House at the UCL Petrie Museum

Items from the Institute's world-renowned collections will be on show at the UCL Petrie Museum during Open House on 21 September.

The Open House event at the UCL Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology runs from 10am-5pm and is following an equine theme!

The event will give visitors:

  • A chance to find out more about the history of the building that were once horses' stables and now home to the Petrie Collection in Malet Place.
  • The opportunity to follow a horse-themed trail around the museum and meet some equine friends.
  • A chance to add their horse god to the museum's model and make their own out of modelling materials
  • Experience of object handling at 12 noon, 2pm and 3pm using items from the Institute's collections including sherds of Greek black-figure ware, a Yemeni ceramic horse and an Iron Age scarab seal from the Levant.  Visitors are asked to sign at the museum's front desk for a session to explore other horses in ancient culture.
