Job Vacancy: Lithics Lab Technician

The Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for a Lithics Lab Technician (Ref.:1420712). The deadline for applications is 26 June 2014.
A Lithics Lab Technician is sought to provide assistance to the European Research Council funded "The Origins of the Acheulean in East Africa" (ORACEAF) project led by Ignacio de la Torre.
The post holder will be responsible for inputting lithic information onto archaeological databases, faciliitation of fieldwork activities and handling of archaeological and experimental stone tools.
The post is part-time (50%) and funded for 6 months in the first instance.
Applicants should have experience of handling African lithic assemblages and with African stone tools. The successful candidate will also have strong IT skills and familiarity with archaeology database management.
Experience of archaeological fieldwork in Africa and knowledge of archaeological illustration are desirable.
