Job Vacancy: GIS Technician

The Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for a GIS Technician (Ref.:1419106). The deadline for applications is 13 June 2014.
A GIS Technician is being sought to work with Ignacio de la Torre on the project "The Origins of the Acheulean in East Africa" (ORACEAF), funded by the European Research Council.
Duties will include creating static maps for publications and reports, map queries, spatial data processing and routine maintenance of database systems for the ORACEAF project.
Candidates should have a BSc degree in Archaeology. Strong IT skills with hands-on experience on ESRI's ArcGIS software is essential. A good understanding of data management and of spatial data types and spatial analysis methods is also required.
A Masters degree in GIS and spatial analysis in Archaeology is desirable.
The post is funded for 24 months in the first instance.
