This year's Early Medieval Archaeology Student Symposium Conference will be held at the Institute of Archaeology from 14-16 May 2012.

The Early Medieval Archaeology Student Symposium is an interactive forum run for and by graduate research students who focus on the archaeology of the Early Medieval period, roughly the period between the 4th-12th centuries AD.

EMASS aims to provide a constructive and interdisciplinary forum to facilitate discussion and debate between researchers from different institutions and specialities, in a constructive environment.

London's oldest surviving pub, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

Following conference presentations on 14 & 15 May 2012, a related fieldtrip is scheduled for Wednesday 16 May visiting the unrivalled early medieval collection at the British Museum, walking through the historic City of London taking in the medieval remains of St. Bride’s and Temple churches and finishing in London’s oldest surviving pub - Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese - the vaulted medieval undercroft of which is believed to have belonged to a thirteenth century Carmelite friary.

To register for the conference, please email the dedicated conference email address or complete the online registration form on the EMASS conference website.
