Jeremy Tanner to give JH Gray Lectures 2012

Jeremy Tanner has been invited to give the JH Gray Lectures 2012, organised by the Faculty of Classics, University of Cambridge.

Jeremy will deliver two lectures on the theme of 'Art as Institution in Early Greece and China':

  • Monday 30 April 2012: Portraits, politics and comparisons
  • Wednesday 2 May: Narrative and naturalism

Both lectures are scheduled to begin at 5pm in Room G19, Faculty of Classics, University of Cambridge, Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge, CB3 9DA (location map).

In addition, Jeremy will give a seminar on Thursday 3 May on 'Style and the development of art theory'. This event is scheduled for 2pm in Room 1.11, Faculty of Classics.

Jeremy, who is Co-ordinator of the Institute's MA in Comparative Art and Archaeology, undertakes research which crosses the boundaries between art history and the sociology of culture and was the recipient of the SAGE Prize for Innovation and Excellence 2011.
